--- Jackie and Terry met at school in Brighton and went into showbusiness together when they were 16. They appeared together in 'Bless The Bride' on tour for two years, then toured Carousel for two years, during which Jackie met her future husband Edmund Hockridge who was playing the lead. Terry, Jackie and Edmund were then in 'The Pajama Game' together at the Coliseum theatre, London. Separately Terry was then in 'Wonderful Town' and 'Damn Yankees', and Jackie was in 'Bells Are Ringing' and 'Wedding In Paris', also in the West End. Terry and Jackie decided to form a song and dance act called The Taylor Maids in 1957. They performed on TV in 'The Joan Regan Show' and 'The Tommy Trinder Show'. They worked again with Tommy Trinder in Pantomime at Wimbledon Theatre, and in cabaret all round the country, and for the American Forces in Wiesbaden, Germany. In Variety they performed with Shirley Bassey, Des O'Connor, Edmund Hockridge, and 'The Billy Cotton Band Show'.

When Jackie married Edmund Hockridge in 1960 The Taylor Maids split up and Jackie retired to have a family. In 1988 Jackie and Edmund formed The Hockridge Family Show with two of their sons, touring all over the British Isles for four years. Jackie and Edmund carried on working together in Cabaret and concerts until Edmund retired at 80.

Sadly Edmund passed away in 2009.

Terry went into pantomime as Principal Boy with Danny LaRue as one of the Ugly Sisters and Lonnie Donegan as Buttons. Danny then asked her to sing in his club 'Winstons' off Bond Street where she met her husband Barry Cryer who was writing and performing in the show. She married Barry in 1962 and retired to have four children.

The Taylor Maids reformed in 2010, after exactly 50 years. They are currently giving talks about their lives - in and out of the theatre - with songs and anecdotes. They are now planning cabaret dates and are performing their show at the Edinburgh Fringe in August 2010.
